Frequently Asked Questions

What is PT-141 used for?
PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a melanocortin receptor agonist used to improve sexual function in both men and women. It works centrally in the brain rather than on blood flow like PDE5 inhibitors (Viagra, Cialis). PT-141 increases sexual desire and arousal rather than just physical response. The FDA-approved version (Vyleesi) is prescribed for hypoactive sexual desire disorder in premenopausal women.
How do you mix PT-141?
PT-141 is reconstituted with bacteriostatic water. Inject the water slowly down the side of the vial and swirl gently — do not shake. A typical concentration is 10mg in 2mL water (5mg/mL). Store reconstituted PT-141 refrigerated and use within 30 days. A common starting dose is 1mg, injected subcutaneously 1–2 hours before intended use, titrating up based on response and side effects.
Where can you buy PT-141 nasal spray?
PT-141 nasal spray is available through compounding pharmacies with a prescription, and through research peptide vendors without one. Nasal bioavailability is lower than subcutaneous injection; compounding pharmacies typically recommend higher doses for nasal routes. The only FDA-approved bremelanotide (Vyleesi) comes as an auto-injector pen available by prescription.
